We take you on a birding experience to northwestern Uganda to search for endemic species and to also enjoy a Big 5 experience. On this safari, we stand a chance of seeing birds like forest species, savannah species, and water birds. We will also enjoy the sight of the Big 5 animals of Africa. This is among the cheapest safari in uganda
On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our driver-guide will pick you up and give you a brief about Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa”.
We will have an early breakfast before we drive to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, making bird-watching stops along the way for some rare species of the region. On arrival at Zziwa, we will rest at the lodge. As the heat of the day begins to dissipate, you will go for your rhino trek. Youโll spend around 2 hours walking to the rhinos and watching them. Although permanently guarded, the rhinos live as wild animals. This is a unique opportunity to spend some time with these giants while supporting their reintroduction to the wild in Uganda.
After your rhino trek, you will go on a dusk birding walk. With over 300 species of woodland, savannah, and wetland species in the sanctuary, you are sure to be satisfied. Dinner will be served in the peaceful environment of the lodge.
We have a very early rise to the day as we head out into the sanctuary’s wetlands on foot and by canoe in search of the shoebill and other water species of the Zziwa wetland. The chances of sightings here are very good and we hope to be able to spend some quality time watching these incredible birds. Later in the afternoon, you will have a hot lunch at the lodge before transferring to your hotel in Masindi for the night.
We head out early through the thick forest to the famous “Royal Mile”. Our expert guides will help you search for different forest bird species like hornbills, kingfishers, rollers, woodpeckers, barbets, spinetails, sunbirds, and many more. We’ll then continue along the scenic route close to Lake Albert, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. You will have the option of a guided birding walk around the lodge’s grounds and/or a short evening birding walk.
On the banks of the Nile, situated in woodland but adjacent to farmland, your lodge is home to many bird species including flycatchers, weavers, sunbirds, kingfishers, kestrels, owls, hornbills, and more.
Your scheduled boat will collect you from the front of the lodge shortly after dawn and you will head downstream to the “delta” of the river in search of shoebills. Although harder to find given the wide expanse they have, there is still a good chance of seeing them, as well as a great deal more along the way. You will return to your lodge for lunch and have the afternoon to explore the area or you can go on a short evening game drive.
Have an early wake-up and a full breakfast before heading to Paraa to cross the Nile for our morning game drive. We’ll search for lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hyena, hartebeest, and more. We will spend around 4 hours driving around the rolling savannah, riverine forest and marshland of the northern section of Murchison Falls National Park before returning to Paraa.
After lunch at your lodge, weโll take the scheduled cruise to Murchison Falls with abundant waterbirds on view. We’ll then walk to the top of the falls where your driver will be waiting for you to take you to your lodge for dinner.
We will rise early to transfer from the park to Airport View Hotel Entebbe. We will have an early breakfast at around 7:30 am and then travel for about 3 to 4 hours. On arrival, we can relax and enjoy the shore birds at our lodge as we enjoy our meals.
We will have an early rise depending on our departure time at the airport. We will have great bird watching at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Here, we stand a chance of seeing the orange weaver and other bird species before we end our trip.
Our guide will help us with the transfer to the airport a few hours before our departure from Uganda back home.
