This tour covers Nyungwe & Kibuye. Nyungwe is home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus), it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal. Finish with Kibuye where you will visit islands, discover safe new trails and hike the birds nest. There is so much more to Rwanda.
The arrival of your air transfer at the Kigali International Airport. Meet and greet assistance by Akagera Aviation.
They will assist with quick clearance at the immigration (visa process). You will take a PCR test to enable you to go trekking chimpanzees.
Once done, you will be handed over to and warmly welcomed by our representative who will be waiting outside the customs and immigration hall. Transfer to your hotel in the city. Arrive and check in assistance. Tour briefing will take place in the lobby. Dinner will follow an overnight stay.
06h30: Early breakfast at the hotel. You will check out and settle extras.
Set off for Nyungwe National Park, where the largest montane forest in East and Central Africa is found. The heart of Nyungwe Forest is like a scene from a fairy tale. Tall old mahoganies, ebonies and giant tree ferns tower above you, whilst orchids and other epiphytes cling to every branch. Brightly colored birds flit around; butterflies are everywhere, including a variety of primates for which Nyungwe National Park is renowned.
En route, we will briefly visit the Ethnographic Museum.
If time permits, we will also visit the King’s palace. Later, continue your drive to Nyungwe.
Arrive and check-in at your hotel, followed by late lunch. This afternoon, visit a Gisakura tea plantation. The secret behind the perfect cup of tea starts right here in Gisakura Tea Estate.
Once done, drive back to your hotel for the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
Today at 05h00 you will get your packed breakfast and drive to the Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Chimpanzee trek briefing and formalities will take place at the park headquarters. You will then proceed with your guide to the evergreen forest for a great experience that starts at 06h00. You may spot a wide variety of bird life.
10h00: After this amazing experience, proceed to the hotel where you will rest and relax. Lunch will be at 12h45.
13h45: After lunch, drive back to the park for briefing before you do your guided canopy walk that starts at 15h00.
Suspended above a ravine amidst the lush vegetation and montane forest of the Ngungwe National Park, Canopy Walk offers participants an exhilarating perspective atop the ancient treetops and wildlife. The 160 meters long suspended bridge is accessible as a part of a guided hike along the Igishigishigi trail or those hiking the Imbaraga and Umuyove trails.
Drive back to the hotel once done. Dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Drive about an hour and a half to Kibuye.
Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Lunch will follow.
This afternoon, depart on a boat ride on Lake Kivu.
Later, return to the hotel for the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
This day will be at leisure to enjoy the hotel and its surroundings.
The hotel compromises an upscale lobby, restaurant and bar, spa, gym, convention center, lake view swimming pool, and parking area. Located in close proximity to Lake Kivu and Nyungwe National Park in the western region of Rwanda.
Early breakfast at the hotel and check out. Set off for Kigali. Lunch will be en route.

Bid farewell to your driver guide and proceed to check in for your outbound air transfer.
